The Maternity Services Whanganui team from Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand approached us to design and build an online resource for new and expectant mothers in the Whanganui region. The result is Te Kākano, meaning the seed, as reflected in their vision for Whanganui whanau:

Mai I te kākano, ka puāwaitia ngā hua
– from the seed we flourish and blossom, plant the seed and it will grow

The resulting website is a blend of key information for mothers and an online directory of local health providers and other services supporting new mothers.

Key functionality includes the ability for local providers to register on the site and create their own public profile using a simple front-end editing system.

We were proud to partner with Cecelia Kumeroa (IHI Design) on this project, who was responsible for designing Te Kākano’s branding.
